CHAPTER 6: TECHNOLOGY AND THE CURRICULUM

This particular section was full of dead links: I have to say, posting them all was beginning to feel a bit like picking all the low-hanging fruit because virtually every one of the links I have looked at needed to be updated.

SECTION 3: Updates for Section 3 (pp 137-146) submitted by Monica Vincent Update #1: Science, Page 137; I was curious to see if and how the National Science Education Standards were modified since 1996. I was able to research online the following:
The development of the National Science Education Standards was guided by certain principles. Those principles are
  • Science is for all students.
  • Learning science is an active process.
  • School science reflects the intellectual and cultural traditions that characterize the practice of contemporary science.
  • Improving science education is part of systemic education reform.
Update #2: Super Solvers Solvers, page 138; If you're interested in learning more about this computer-based science laboratory, you can visit http://www.kidsclick.com/descrip/ss_gizmos.htm.

Update #3: Jason Project, page 139; Just in case, there is another link for this project, http://www.jason.org/public/home.aspx (instead of www.jasonproject.org).

Update #4: Supporting the Common Good Section, Page 142; Provide technology suggestions for the working groups in regards to decision-making skills and such.

Update #5: Adopting Common & Multiple Perspectives, Page 143; Provide information about new technologies/internet sites that offer geography and mapping for a specific place. The examples the book uses is focused on word processing and/or data collection.

Update #6: Compton's Interactive Encyclopedia , page 145; This program is available via a CD-ROM. This section needs to be updated to include online choices.
